Lillie Loves to Read

I loved that the setting was in early 20th Century and that it was about a young lady making it out there on her own. Feisty heroine, difficult circumstances, great time period- they all pointed to a great read. Boy, was I disappointed. The writing was beyond comprehension. Felt that the author was trying too hard to be literary. Tell your story in language that can be understood and you've won half the battle. It took me way too long to get through half of the book and it was returned to the library unfinished.

Final verdict: I know that the words were in English but I had a difficult time making sense of the sentences. When you have to work this hard to understand...
