3 1/2 stars
Young woman (22), Marina, goes to a very small town in Japan to be an English teacher with her girlfriend. Interesting story of facing the cultural differences (who knew recycling was so big there?), dealing with the death of her father and her changing relationship with her girlfriend. Really enjoyed the interaction between Marina and her supervisor through letters he wrote her about recycling. A lovely book.
What put the book at 3 1/2 stars vs. 3 stars was the author's conversation at the end of the book, giving us a little more insight into her year in Japan.
