Lillie Loves to Read

Reader of all kinds of books but favorites genres include mystery, sic-fi, romance, thrillers, YA, fantasy, general fiction, memoirs. I'll try anything once.

1Q84 - Jay Rubin, Philip Gabriel, Haruki Murakami I'm torn as to what rating to give this book. One the one hand it was simplistic and repetitious but on the other I couldn't put it down. I read it in 3 days. It's a book about an alternate reality, "little people"-my take was magical beings, a secretive religious cult and a love story at the core. There were plot points that were dropped (older girlfriend, NHK collector, Komatsu?) and others that were just thrown in there for the sex (and boy was there an obsession with breasts). I feel like I should really hate this book but in the end I enjoyed being immersed into the unusual world. Having never read a Murakami book before, I'll be looking at his backlist.
